A firewall often stops various sites from opening on your computer. In a way this is good because you can stop all those unsafe and unwanted sites from opening. But it also stops the sites which you need from opening. So quite often people have to unblock their firewall to check out the sites that they want, but a lot of people don’t know how to do this. here we run you through the steps of unblocking it.
• Click on the “Start” button on the computer. Then click on the “Control Panel” option. Then you need to click on the “Windows Firewall” option to open the window which will show you the settings. Then you need to locate the tab which states “General”. Then you will find that one option says “Don’t allow exceptions”. Remove the check from the box which says this. when you remove this check you remove the firewall for various programs and hence these programs can communicate successfully with the computer.
• Now you need to locate another tab. This tab will say “Exceptions”. This is the program which will allow you to select various programs and also applications which should be either blocked or whose access should always be allowed with your computer. You then have to check on the boxes of the applications which you want to allow the computer to communicate with or where you don’t want the firewall to be applicable. The applications which you don’t want the computer to communicate with should not have a check in the box which is beside it.
• Now additional programs also have firewalls and you need to remove it from this list. At the bottom of the tab which says “Exceptions” you will find a button which says “Add program”. Click on this. then scroll through the menu to find the program which you want. Then you have to click on the “OK” button to remove the firewall from it.
• If you want to get rid of the firewall for all of the general applications then you need to click on the “General” tab. Then you have to click on the “Off” radio button which is there in this tab. Now this will just stop the firewall in general. You should not usually do this because you might just invite viruses into your computer this way.
